10 Best Action Scenes From The Marvel Cinematic Universe

8. Jumping The Realms - Thor: The Dark World

Thor's solo outings aren't generally regarded as high points of the MCU, but Alan Taylor's sequel remains a solid-if-unspectacular addition nonetheless. Although The Dark World boasts a weak villain and largely uninteresting plot, the climactic action sequence sees the director make great use of the Nine Realms.

Putting a unique and imaginative spin on the 'final battle' staple, the sequence offers a variety of locations, fantastic CGI effects and plenty of humor, most notably the God of Thunder being forced to take the London Underground as Mjolnir goes walkies, with even the absence of Loki and the presence of Kat Dennings' insufferable Darcy failing to dampen the excitement.

Operating on the more fantastical side of the MCU gives the Thor franchise more leeway to differentiate itself from its Avengers stablemates in terms of action scenes, and the final showdown makes great use of this as Thor and Malekith battle on the ground, in the air and across dimensions.

I don't do social media, so like or follow me in person but please maintain a safe distance or the authorities will be notified. Don't snap me though, I'll probably break. I was once labelled a misogynist on this very site in a twenty paragraph-long rant for daring to speak ill of the Twilight franchise. I stand by what I said, it's crap.
