10 Best Action Scenes Of 2015

3. Azerbaijan Airdrop - Furious 7

The Fast and Furious franchise is duty-bound to fill each new installment of the long-running series with increasingly ludicrous action sequences and at this rate, there will be literally no other option but to send Dominic Torretto and his 'family' into outer space at some point in the near future. The movie's standout set-piece is the team's assault on an enemy convoy on the Caucasus mountain range in Azerbaijan, which sees director James Wan throw everything but the kitchen sink into the mix with deliriously entertaining results. Only the Fast and Furious franchise could get away with such blatant laughter in the face of logic, physics and gravity and have audiences lap it up to the tune of over $1.5bn at the box office. A fleet of cars casually parachute from a moving plane, the team engage in some vehicular warfare that results in plenty of wreckage and explosions, Jason Statham's villain appears out of nowhere like some kind of bald Terminator, and Paul Walker takes on the mighty Tony Jaa in hand-to-hand combat before running along the outside of an overturned bus as it slides along the edge of a cliff before jumping to safety. By embracing the ridiculousness of it all and injecting the balls-to-the-wall action with plenty of banter between the ensemble cast, the long-running series has found the perfect formula for blockbuster escapism. It pretty much sums up the franchise as a whole that the sequence ends with Dom driving his car headfirst off a cliff with the person they had literally just rescued sitting in the passenger seat. Make no mistake, Toretto's crew would most likely hand The Avengers their asses if they ever met in a fight.

I don't do social media, so like or follow me in person but please maintain a safe distance or the authorities will be notified. Don't snap me though, I'll probably break. I was once labelled a misogynist on this very site in a twenty paragraph-long rant for daring to speak ill of the Twilight franchise. I stand by what I said, it's crap.
