10 Best Animated Comic Book Films Of The Decade
4. Justice League: Crisis On Two Earths
Staying with parallel universes, this movie took the concept of alternate realities and use it to create such a compelling story, it left you asking the same questions as the characters in the film.
To begin with, we see a villainized version of the Justice League from another parallel universe, called the Syndicate. In a further twist, the Lex Luthor from that earth happens on to be on the side of good and seeks out help against the evil oppressors. This brings him to the Earth we are more familiar with.
The heroes from this earth eventually decide to help and travel to the parallel universe alongside Luthor. Here, Owlman reveals his true plan to destroy the very first Earth and with it bring forth the end of all reality.
A series of tense encounters follow which see Owlman locate and escape to Earth Prime with a doomsday weapon.
During the final showdown, Batman engages his counterpart on the original home world with the fate of the multiverse hanging in the balance. Although good ultimately triumphs over evil, it was Owlman’s very last line that really stays with the audience. As the bomb is about to go off and Batman has already left, the great villain simply smiles, uttering the ever relevant words, “it doesn’t matter”.
