10 Best Animated Horror Movies
3. ParaNorman
Released to nowhere near enough acclaim in 2012, ParaNorman combines 3D animation flourishes with traditional stop-motion animation for a fun horror comedy coming-of-age story.
This surprisingly mature horror comedy from Laika remains their most underrated effort, boasting an ensemble voice cast including the likes of Arachnophobia's John Goodman, Pitch Perfect's Anna Kendrick, and even McLovin himself Christopher Mintz-Plasse as a scene-stealing bully.
The film's story follows the titular outcast, a horror-obsessed kid who can communicate with the dead, as he uncovers the shameful secrets of his hometown in order to stop the undead from rising out of their graves. This simple set-up ends up resulting in some thoughtful and poignant explorations of prejudice and small-minded small town Americana, all wrapped up in a frenetic, funny, and undeniably creepy slice of horror comedy.
Well worth a watch, this's a rare kid's horror which manages to be scary and funny as well as having something worthwhile to say.
