10 Best Avenger Actor Team-Ups Outside Of The MCU

The movie based on the true events that inspired a novel, not the easiest sell. As such, 2015's In the Heart of the Sea ended up being a commercial disappointment. Mind you, selling a historical adventure-drama about a giant, vengeful whale that destroys ships in the 1800s, was never going to be a clean, easy, and bankable project, even if you do have the star power of Chris Hemsworth and Tom Holland.

But here's the thing, this was released a year before Tom Holland's debut as the all new web head. If In the Heart of the Sea was released now, people would flock to a movie that had Thor and Spider-Man in it. Look at Spies in Disguise, look at Onward, look at Holland's Instagram page! Everybody loves this guys right now.

Speaking of which, Tom Holland turned in a commendable performance as the 14-year-old cabin boy Nickerson, and must have really made an impression on Hemsworth, who put in a good word with the guys upstairs saying that he would be a great Spider-Man.

So, while this movie didn't do all that much at the box-office, it contained one of the most significant team-ups outside the MCU. For if we didn't have In the Heart of the Sea, we wouldn't have our friendly neighbourhood Spider-Man.
