10 Best Benicio Del Toro Movie Performances

9. Lawrence Talbot - The Wolfman (2010)

Snatch Benicio Del Toro
Universal

A remake of George Waggner's classic The Wolf Man (1941), 2010's The Wolfman didn't receive the best critical response, despite it actually being quite a solid reimagining of the original tale.

Benicio del Toro stars as the titular Wolfman, real name Lawrence Talbot. In the role, del Toro stands out as the strongest aspect of the movie. He's charismatic, suspicious, and constantly unsure of the world around him and the truths he learns during the story. He's at the centre of the tale, at once an innocent victim who lost his mother and brother years earlier, but also an animal and a killer.

There can be no denying that The Wolfman is far from perfect, with its sometimes overblown CGI and poor creative decisions surrounding the film's aesthetic, but del Toro's performance never really wavers, even when the script seems to want him to. Captivating, endearing and terrifying, the role, like the film itself, is in desperate need of a re-watch.
