10 Best Blumhouse Horror Movies You've Probably Never Seen

1. Ouija: Origin Of Evil

The Town That Dreaded Sundown
Universal Pictures

As shocking as it may be, a prequel to a horrible 2014 movie is easily the most under the radar Blumhouse films by a large margin.

Set in 1967, Alice Zander (Elizabeth Reaser), a phony spiritual medium who helps loved ones connect with the dead, until one day, her daughter Doris (Lulu Wilson) channels a very real spirit with the help of a Ouija board.

Directed by Mike Flanagan, Ouija: Origin of Evil is way better than it has any right to be. Flanagan is the man responsible for Oculus, Hush, Gerald's Game, Absentia and The Haunting of Hill House and Bly Manor. Safe to say, the man does horror and he does it incredibly well.

Released two years before The Haunting of Hill House, this film almost feels like a test run for that show. The slow building tension, the background horrors that leave you second guessing what you just saw, the subtle and tiny details that when caught horrify you, everything that is done so well by him is ever present in this film. There's also quite a few familiar faces from The Haunting Of Hill House and Bly Manor. It's with this cast that Flanagan hit his stride and it's here that we see him start to build that foundation.

Flanagan has become an absolute mammoth in the horror genre, and with good reasoning. With so many beloved films and shows under his belt, this is without a doubt his and Blumhouse's biggest sleeper hit.
