10 Best (Canon) Star Wars Novels Every Fan Must Read

7. Aftermath: Empire's End

Star Wars Thrawn Treason

The first continuous series of novels in the new EU, Chuck Wendig's excellent Aftermath trilogy gave readers one of the most different Star Wars stories ever written. How this trilogy subverts and reshapes the Star Wars formula is something we'll get into bit by bit with each installation when we get to them on this list, but let's start off with the final chapter, Empire's End.

The Aftermath novels center around a ragtag group of rebels led by veteran soldier Norra Wexley, as they hunt down the last imperial super star destroyer, and its admiral, Rae Sloane, one of the greatest villains in Star Wars history.

The reason this book is lower on the list than the other two in the trilogy is only because expectations were so high and no ending to a trilogy is as perfect as the one you imagine in your head (story of this whole franchise, if I'm being honest).

But despite that, it's still an action packed classic Star Wars story, and a more than welcome addition to the canon.
