10 Best (Canon) Star Wars Novels Every Fan Must Read

5. Resistance Reborn

Star Wars Resistance Reborn Novel
Lucasfilm/Del Rey/Scott Woolston/Scott Biel

While I personally enjoyed The Rise of Skywalker, I totally get why a lot of people reacted so negatively toward it. Especially when the Colin Trevorrow script was reportedly going to be a LOT more original a tale (though please remember this was the guy who made Book Of Henry so the actual quality of the script was probably a complete coin toss).

But for those of you who would have preferred another chapter in the sequel trilogy more in line with episode 8, you're in luck, because Rebecca Roanhorse has got you covered with Resistance Reborn.

There's definitely an argument to be made that this is the only book on this list that NEEDS to be read in order for TROS to make a bit more sense. The whole book is about trying to bounce back from the crushing blow The First Order dealt the resistance on Crait back in The Last Jedi, scouring the galaxy for anyone still willing to fight.

It's not only an excellent chapter in the sequel trilogy story but also an awesome conclusion to almost everything set up in previous Del Rey Star Wars novels, as pretty much every light side aligned hero from those books still alive makes an appearance.

John Tibbetts is a novelist in theory, a Whatculture contributor in practice, and a nerd all around who loves talking about movies, TV, anime, and video games more than he loves breathing. Which might be a problem in the long term, but eh, who can think that far ahead?
