10 Best (Canon) Star Wars Novels Every Fan Must Read
4. Aftermath: Life Debt
One cool gimmick of the Aftermath novels is that at certain points, the story will stop for an interlude to show you what's going on elsewhere in the galaxy. Whether it's learning that Jar Jar Binks got a much better ending than some fans would say he deserves, or in today's case, learning that Han and Chewbacca are headed off to free the Wookies still held in slavery by the remains of the Empire on Kashyyk.
Life Debt fills us in on what happened after that interlude from the first Aftermath book. Short answer, it all kinda went FUBAR.
Realizing that her husband is in over his head yet again, General Organa calls up Norra Wexley and her team of imperial hunters to find out what happened, save Han, and finish the mission to save the Wookies.
Not only is this about as good a sequel as you could have made for Aftermath, it's also just a really good sci-fi jailbreak story. And even if it didn't have that, it would still have Admiral Rae Sloane being the best villain.
