10 Best Closing Shots In Cinema History

7. Fight Club

005 The apex of Project Mayhem's plan to upset the established order comes to fruition in the final moments of David Pincher's masterful 1999 drama, as Jack (Edward Norton) has vanquished the voice inside his head commanding the plan, Tyler Durden (Brad Pitt), but is too late to prevent the impending destruction of every credit card building in the vicinity. Marla Singer (Helena Bonham Carter), his on-again-off-again lover, shows up just in time to watch the carnage with him, as the pair hold hands and the beautiful symphony of destruction begins. It's a wonderfully composed shot for several reasons; the cinematography, a CGI insert of course, looks fantastic and makes us think about all the people who were probably killed by the falling buildings; the use of The Pixies' "Where Is My Mind?" has become an iconic staple of pop culture; and for good measure, Fincher flashes a near-subliminal glimpse of a naked penis just to tickle us one last time.
