Take car, go to mum's, kill Phil, grab Liz, go to the Winchester, have a nice cold pint, and wait for all of this to blow over. Or, you know, just stick on Shaun Of The Dead (2004). Whichever's easier.

The first of the big mainstream horror comedies, Shaun Of The Dead took director Edgar Wright's love of '70s and '80s horror (particularly the films of George Romero) and reanimated it for the 21st century.

Morose salesman Shaun (Simon Pegg) is just going through the motions, until one day his whole life is upended by the onslaught of the zombie apocalypse. Accompanied his best friend Ed (Nick Frost), he must navigate the undead-ridden gardens, alleyways, corner stores and flats of their North-London borough in order to get to the pub and, well, wait for things to blow over.

Featuring a splattering of authentically scary moments, and a few jump scares, Shaun Of The Dead brings little England to the afterlife and gives us a heady dose of everything we know and love about Britain, with a bonkers pop culture spin. It's got romance, it's got action, and it's got Queen. Plus, it has a pretty happy ending for a zombie movie – even if Ed is technically no longer with us.
