10 Best Disappointing Movies Ever
1. The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey
Here's the problem with The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey, and the entire trilogy for that matter - Peter Jackson attempted to adapt it on the same scale as his Lord of the Rings movies, but the source material is not in the same league.
The Hobbit is a wafer-then children's book beside the epic tome that is LOTR, and Jackson's efforts to pad the story to fill three films created pacing issues - an unexpectedly sluggish journey from the off.
Bilbo's adventure should have been two films tops, but that doesn't mean there isn't a lot of enjoyment to be found in An Unexpected Journey.
Had the Lord of the Rings movie trilogy never existed and this was Jackson's starting point, it would have been celebrated for its dizzying set pieces, spectacular effects and faithful recreation of classic literary characters.
Admittedly, those effects had barely moved on since Lord of the Rings, but if you can silence your inner cynic, The Hobbit is more fun that it ever was disappointing.
