10 Best Disappointing Movies Ever
6. Watchmen
Zack Snyder's Watchmen ended up being the movie equivalent of Marmite, but it was the best possible adaptation of the revered source material we could have hoped for.
Snyder was loyal to Alan Moore's graphic novel to a fault, right up until he wasn't.
Many hardcore fans could never forgive the director for deviating from the source material right at the end, but let's be honest, that giant alien squid thing would have looked rubbish on screen, and its appearance would have marked a jarring tonal shift towards all-out sci-fi-fantasy.
Some things work well on the page, but not so well on cinema, and Snyder made the right call for the medium he was working in.
Deviations aside, Watchmen was a dark, unique entry to the superhero genre that came as close as humanly possible to meeting its lofty expectations.
