We'd all heard plenty about the 1912 disaster that was the Titanic but few of us could ever really imagine the horrors and fear that those passengers went through.

That was, until 1997 when James Cameron delivered us a truly mesmerizing tale of love, panic, and all-round chaos in the form of his adaptation of the tragic events of the Titanic.

Leonardo Di Caprio and Kate Winslet are the stars of the show, but there is so much more to this film than just the performances of two of Hollywood's finest. Their love story is just one aspect of a film that delivers on every level.

The mass destruction of the actual boat is expertly captured, as is the divide between the rich and poor, something which, at times, is heartbreaking to witness.

Titanic surpassed all expectations at the box-office too, smashing in excess of $2bn since its release.

As far as real-life disaster movies go, there's little to compete with the story of Titanic.
