10 Best Droids In Star Wars

7. BB-8

While fans had a lot of issues with the new sequel trilogy of Star Wars movies, one of the positives of the films was the introduction of BB-8. This new model BB-series astromech droid belonged to pilot Poe Dameron who first flew for the New Republic, and eventually fought the First Order as part of the Resistance.

BB-8 was a quirky little droid with a big personality. He was a bit less sassy than R2-D2 but far more pleasant to be around for long periods than Chopper. Like both of his predecessors, he was loaded with gear that made him helpful in a variety of circumstances, which was part of the reason Poe likes having him around.

Much smaller than R2-D2 or Chopper, BB-8's body was basically a soccer ball that rolled everywhere with a dome shaped head on top. Reputedly, this was the original design for R2-D2 back in the 1970s but they didn't have the special effects technology at the time to pull it off.
