10 Best Elevator Scenes In Horror Movie History

The Final Destination films are centred on the idea that if you look closely you can spot signs that foreshadow death. Nora Carpenter was one of the lucky escapees of a massive motorway pileup, and through various events she and the rest of the survivors figure out that death is coming for them in the order they should have died, and Nora is next.

After leaving the others at Thomas’ apartment, Nora gets in the elevator with Eugene and a creepy man carrying a box of prosthetic hook hands. Meanwhile the rest of the group see a sign that the next death will be caused by a man with hooks. They call Nora and she panics that the man in the elevator is going to kill her.

The scene sets up a perfect fake out by having the hook man secretly sniffing Nora’s hair, suggesting he is unstable with the potential to be violent. This is then suddenly pulled away when Nora gets her ponytail caught in one of his hooks and in her hysteria that he is trying to harm her, runs out of the elevator when the doors open. She is yanked backwards and crushed by the closing doors before being decapitated as the others desperately try to push her back inside.

The irony is that if the others hadn’t tried to warn her then the terrible accident probably wouldn’t have happened!
