Existing as an animated character doesnt stop Russell from being one of the most endearing people on this list. Hes an over-eager boy scout (or fictional equivalent) hell-bent on earning his last merit badge. The only problem is his target (elderly Carl Fredricksen) is the definition of curmudgeonly. This being a Pixar film, however, they must learn to bond over the course of their adventure to and in South America. In the same vein as the previous entry, Russell is naïve, but hes got a big heart. He wants to accompany Carl not just for the merit badge, but because he really wants to help people. He also really likes birds, dogs, and asking questions. When its eventually revealed that Russells dad is a no-show at his badge presentation ceremony, its a complete heartbreak... that is, until Carl steps up and stands in for him. Yes, bask in that unrivalled Disney catharsis. Choice Quote: Mr. Fredricksen? Am I supposed to dig the hole before or after?
