10 Best Female Characters In Sci-Fi Movie History
8. Zoe Washburne - Serenity
The cancellation of the TV show Firefly is a devastating occurrence that people discuss even to this day. That is the legacy that this show has left behind. However, if it had not been cancelled, then the film Serenity may not have come along, and then Zoe wouldn't have been eligible for this list. So maybe that's a minor consolation prize at least.
Serenity chronicles the antics of the crew of the titular ship as they attempt to protect their telepathic member River from an assassin sent to capture her. Having to choose between placing River or Zoe on this entry was a tough decision, but Zoe takes priority as she has exuded dominant energy since her introduction in the story.
Zoe, as a character, effortlessly feels intimidating. Of all the members of the crew Serenity, she is the one you would least like to be on the wrong side of, as the film makes it very clear that her physical prowess is not to be reckoned with. In addition, her stoic and severe nature is juxtaposed with a funny and goofy charm that gives the character nuance.
Gina Torres is fantastic in the role. Tragically, we won't get to see more of her.
