10 Best Fictional Planets In Sci-Fi Movies

6. Naboo, Star Wars

Speaking of Star Wars, this article would not be complete without a couple of trips to the galaxy far, far away. And where better to begin than Sheev Palpatine's homeworld of Naboo?

A lot like the more mild and temperate climates and locales of Earth, the natural environment of Naboo is lush and full of rolling plains, waterfalls and human, alien and animal life coexisting peacefully.

The cities of Naboo, particularly the ruling seat of Theed, evoke much of the Old World in their typically Byzantine architecture, complemented by classical interiors that would not look out of place in the Baroque period.

It is also the home of Padme Amidala, who was elected their Queen at 14 years old. The planet opts to elect young women as their queens believing in their youthful spirit and plain way of seeing things, but why it elects its monarchs is another matter.

The planet features most in the saga's prequel films, The Phantom Menace (1999) and Attack Of The Clones (2002), but also makes cameo appearances elsewhere, including in Return Of The Jedi's (1983) final sequence, in every release from the Special Edition onwards.
