7. Overboard (1987)

V for Vendetta
MGM

Overboard is one of those guilty pleasures that everyone can relate to, as we have all wanted the opportunity to take down an arrogant bully, however, most of us wouldn't go to the lengths of Kurt Russell's character Dean. Russell and real-life wife Goldie Hawn are perfect together as you can see their obvious chemistry and they have a ton of fun with their roles.

Spoiled heiress Joanna refuses to pay widower father of four carpenter Dean for his work. The aggrieved handyman gets his chance for vengeance when Joanna falls off her husband’s yacht and suffers amnesia. Joanna is cruelly abandoned by her husband because of her mental state, so Dean sees his chance to get her to pay him back what he is owed.

He convinces her that she is his wife, and she moves in with him and his children. Although she at first finds the childcare and cleaning chores difficult and demeaning, she soon adapts, and ends up improving the family’s life and she and Dean genuinely fall in love.

When her real husband is finally shamed into coming to find her, she remembers him and returns to her old life, angry at Dean's horrendous revenge plot. However, she soon realises how much happier she was with him and the boys, so decides to go back to him to remain in the world that he created for her.
