10 Best First Kills From Horror Movies

6. Kirk - The Texas Chainsaw Massacre

Urban Legend movie
Bryanston Entertainment

In an ironic moment, the first murder in this 1974 blood-soaked staple features zero chainsaws whatsoever!

Wait, is that irony? Does anyone actually know what irony is?

Anyway, we get our first glimpse at the murderous nature of Leatherface when travellers Kirk and Pam arrive at his house. Their van is out of gas, so Kirk attempts to barter with the occupants in exchange for fuel. Only Leatherface is in no mood to trade.

Appearing in full masked form, Leatherface bludgeons Kirk in the head with a single, powerful hammer blow. If the swift nature of the attack wasn't bad enough, we then see a bloodied Kirk spasming on the floor as the life slowly leaves his body.

Things only get worse for Kirk, as his body is then dismembered by his killer's trusty chainsaw.

Oh, the irony...

The shocking nature of this kill is a great precursor to the pure viciousness that is to follow in The Texas Chainsaw Massacre. A movie as depraved as this should set the tone nice and early, which is exactly what happens when poor old Kirk gets his skull turned inside out.
