10 Best First Kills From Horror Movies

4. Georgie Denbrough - It

Urban Legend movie
Warner Bros. Pictures

From child murderers to child murderees.

Is murderees a word? Probably not - point is, this kid's gonna die.

Both the 1990 miniseries and 2017 feature film version of Stephen King's It start in the same way. A boy named Georgie in a bright yellow coat is playing with a paper boat in the rain when he hears a voice coming from a storm drain.

The voice belongs to Pennywise, a clown played by either Tim Curry or that guy from Barbarian. Pennywise appears friendly at first, luring young Georgie closer and closer to the hole in the road. He then rips the boy's arm clean off, before dragging him down to a watery grave.

In terms of iconic horror openings, you can't do much better than this. Everything from the drain shot to the method of death to the colour of Georgie's coat is now synonymous with movie horror and with good reason.

Curry and SkarsgÄrd are frighteningly charismatic in their portrayals of Pennywise, bringing a huge sense of looming threat to the scene and serving as the perfect warning of Stranger Danger.

Especially when it comes to clowns.
