7. Quarantine

Quarantine is the kind of movie that will give people some gripe, mainly because everyone is sick of quarantines, and it's an American remake of the Spanish horror classic REC (get used to that name, you'll be seeing it a lot later). But, as far as remakes go, this one does have some redeeming qualities.

The film follows Angela (a reporter) and Scott (a cameraman) after they are forced to quarantine in a building full of infected humans. They soon begin a battle for survival as they attempt to survive against the rampage of these zombified monsters.

This movie's most egregious issue is simply that it's a carbon copy of the original flick, albeit with a different origin for the virus. This is a blessing and a curse, as while the film feels like a blatant cash-in, it does effectively recreate many of the original's selling points. The atmosphere is tense, the shocks are high octane, and the acting (especially from Jennifer Carpenter as Angela) is convincing enough to hook you in.

If you're looking for some stellar scares and don't like watching movies with subtitles, then this horror remake is a decent option for you.
