10 Best Found Footage Zombie Horror Movies
8. Diary Of The Dead
Seeing a George A. Romero title so low down on a list of zombie movies seems like blasphemy, but it fits well here. While the legendary filmmaker can be called the granddaddy of zombie cinema, it's safe to say his stride into found-footage is easily his weakest Z-flick. Despite that, Diary of the Dead still has plenty of value, even if it doesn't match Romero's usual standard.
The film follows a group of student filmmakers who get caught up in a terrifying zombie apocalypse. Rather than putting the cameras down and fighting to survive, they decide to document the events, making a movie out of the end of the world.
As you can expect from Romero, the flick is full of social commentary. It's the kind of thing you'll either wholeheartedly applaud or find incredibly distracting. The students' adventures within a zombie-infected America feature plenty of unsubtle allusions to humanity's obsession with technology, racism and even (the rather modern) desire to let others get hurt for the sake of finding fame on the internet.
Of course, if none of that stuff suits you, you still have plenty of gore, violence and action to keep you satisfied. It's a B-movie through and through.
