10 Best Found Footage Zombie Horror Movies

Making one good found-footage zombie movie is hard enough on its own, so the fact that this series managed to come out with a sequel that also blew everybody's pants and socks off is quite an impressive feat. This is the kind of follow-up that should make the likes of The Descent and The Exorcist boil with jealously.

REC 2 takes place immediately after the first film and follows a group of soldiers tasked with protecting a scientist as he investigates the outbreak's origins. But, it soon becomes clear that this Doctor is holding some secrets.

The movie does a great job of upping the ante from its predecessor without forgetting what made it such a smash hit. The atmosphere is claustrophobic, the action is intense, and the killer villains are as hair-raising as ever. But, the movie also does a solid job of delving further into REC's final reveal.

The first flick landed a great stinger at the end, revealing that the outbreak (spoiler alert) was a result of demonic possession rather than a typical virus. This is something the sequel delves further into, giving it a progressive vibe and expanding the concept satisfyingly.

There were more sequels (Rec 3: Genesis and Rec 4: Apocalypse), but this was the last REC movie to do it right.
