10. Book Of Eli (2010)
Denzel Washington stars as Eli, a wandering loner who has been tasked with carrying a mysterious book through the post apocalyptic wastes of future America. And whenever anybody tries to interfere with him or his mission they usually meet the business end of his machete. You know, the sharp bit. Denzel was a healthy 55 years old when he started work on this stylish action flick but you wouldnt know it from the impressive long take fight scenes and numerous shootouts Eli gets into. His slightly hunched and world weary frame masks a powerful physicality that can explode into action when threatened, and boy does he ever! The films final twist may draw eye rolls from some and villain Gary Oldman doesn't pose much of a threat, but theres no denying that Denzel completely convinces as the film's soulful but tough outcast. He also did a similarly badass job in 2012's Safe House.
