4. Die Hard With A Vengeance (1995)
Miles better than Die Hard 2 and light-years better than the sequels that followed, Die Hard With A Vengeance is a fantastic buddy action movie that benefits from a lighter tone than the previous entries in the series, whilst still upping the ante.
The chemistry between Samuel Jackson and Bruce Willis is to die (hard) for, and the film features the best villain of the series (that isn't Alan Rickman) with Jeremy Irons playing Simon Gruber.
It’s easy to see that the script was originally intended to be a 4th Lethal Weapon, because, well, it feels at times like a Lethal Weapon movie. Not that that’s a bad thing. Bruce Willis’s performance ensures this instalment is still quintessential Die Hard. In other words, he is as grumpy as ever as he dishes out dry quips left and right.
