10 Best Hard Rock Songs Used In Movies
7. Comfortably Numb - The Wall
Rock and roll has also been no stranger to the big screen before. Ever since the first incarnations of rock and roll, acts like Elvis Presley and the Beatles already had movies of their own to act as glorified commercials for their songs. However, The Wall by Pink Floyd was something else entirely.
Released almost concurrently with the album of the same name, this movie is an amazing artistic look into the life of Pink, a pampered rock star who begins to lose his sanity midway through a tour. Along with the other amazing cuts on the record, the movie really comes to a head with the song Comfortably Numb. As Pink drifts away in his hotel room, a doctor is brought in to help him get onstage in time for the show, giving him different medications to soothe his needs.
Though the song itself is beautiful for what it is, it works wonders when offset by the visuals, as Bob Geldolf plays the disgruntled Pink appearing almost limp before being treated to some of the most stunning visuals ever to have the words 'rock music' associated with it. As the outro guitar solo leads us onward, we start to get the feeling that this will not be a happy ending though, once Pink starts to become a dictator at the expense of his fans. Even though music videos can be described as a lesser version of a feature film, this is one exception where both mediums work remarkably well together.
