10 Best Hard Rock Songs Used In Movies

6. Lust For Life - Trainspotting

Trainspotting's soundtrack has turned into a virtual phenomenon among the people willing to look for it. From getting some of the premier acts of the day to Noel Gallagher of Oasis turning it down after thinking it was about actual people spotting trains, this British classic has gone down in legend at this point. If there's one song that says it all for the movie though, it has to be Iggy Pop's Lust For Life.

Then again, it feels almost weird saying that once you know the context of the actual song. At this point in his life, this is when Iggy started to turn his life around a little bit, trying to get off some of the hard drugs and proclaiming a lust for life without the need for narcotics. Once you factor in the scenes though, this tells something completely different, as Ewan McGregor's character is turning into the epitome of the junkie that Pop was originally trying to avoid.

Granted, there are a few moments that feel more suited to the drug like euphoria of the film, such as Lou Reed's Perfect Day being the soundtrack to his heroin overdose. On the other hand, the whacked-out drum groove of this song is pretty much everything you could ask for, being the perfect sonic equivalent of raising hell wherever you see fit. The message might have fallen on deaf ears, but the effect is no less exhilarating once you see it in action.
