10 Best Harry Potter Characters Who Only Appeared In One Movie
2. Gilderoy Lockhart
The first two Harry Potter movies felt like entirely different entities than the later titles. While they had their fair share of dread and darkness, they were ultimately a far lighter and goofier affair. This led to tremendous - and ridiculous - characters like the fantastic Gilderoy Lockhart.
Lockhart was played by the well-respected Kenneth Branagh, who milked every single second he had on screen. His overly theatrical and cheesy performance was a perfect fit not only for the character but also for the film's general tone.
The famous Wizard came along to take over as the Defence Against the Dark Arts teacher and arrived at Hogwarts as a celebrity thanks to his various brave deeds. However, as Chamber of Secrets progressed, viewers learned that he'd fabricated all of these impressive bouts and had used memory charms to manipulate people into believing him.
Although his story ended tragically - with Lockhart accidentally wiping his own memory - it came as a form of irony thanks to his crimes. Seeing him return to the series wouldn't have made sense, as his story was bookended with a fantastic beginning and end in Chamber of Secrets, making the character short, but sweet.
