10 Best Hidden Gem Found Footage Horror Movies
1. Alien Abduction (2014)
Found footage is a genre that's easy to love, but there's one criticism that even the stoutest fans can't defend, and that's why do they never put the camera down?
If you're being chased by monsters or murderers, then surely capturing the footage would be the last thing on your mind. Drop that cam and scram. Well, 2014's Alien Abduction is one of the few flicks that manages to justify the main character's unwillingness to drop the camera.
This movie, as should be obvious from the title, tells the simple story of a family vacation that turns into hell after an alien encounter. It's told from the perspective of a young autistic boy who uses a camcorder as a coping mechanism. He films everything because it is how he deals with stressful or uncertain situations, and that's certainly something he faces after meeting these extraterrestrials.
On top of this, the film is also a high-octane scare-fest. There are plenty of big jumpscares and intense moments, giving you a general sense of unease as danger lurks around every corner.
