10 Best Hidden Gem Movies Of 2019
4. Yesterday
Yesterday is a romantic comedy written by Richard Curtis and directed by Danny Boyle, which functions as both a love story concerning the characters, as well as one directed towards The Beatles and their music. The film stars Himesh Papel and Lily James as the focused couple but revolves around music in a significant way.
The film asks the question, what would the world be like if the music of The Beatles was never introduced, but a fellow unleashes it on the world in 2019? In the film, Patel plays a struggling musician who suffers a serious car accident. When he awakens, the world has changed in several significant ways.
The most glaring omission happens to be the music of The Beatles, so, like any struggling musician, he begins to sing the songs that helped define rock and roll music for generations. It's a hit (of course), but he struggles with his immediate rise to fame, as well as his theft of John, Paul, Ringo, and George's incredible work.
Compared to Boyle's "bigger" works - usually in genre fields - this one just wasn't responded to in the same terms.
