10 Best High School Horror Movies

6. Cherry Falls

Not the most subtle picture, Cherry Falls beats you over the head with its killer, its on-the-nose title and ludicrous back story. While director Geoffrey Wright might not've aimed for wits and originality, he scores big time in the entertainment department. High schooler Jody Marken's (Brittany Murphy) father, Sheriff Marken (an astoundingly over the top Michael Biehn) is investigating a new slasher in town, one who targets teens of the virginal variety.

It doesn't take too long for students to cotton on to the killer's m.o. and before you know it, the 'Pop Your Cherry Ball' is a thing. As if sweating over a killer targeting their kids wasn't enough, now parents must throw their disapproval at the youngster feverishly getting it on.

Several failed submissions to the MPAA meant this bloodthirsty gem never got a cinematic distribution. Going straight to the video/telecast medium, it went largely unnoticed upon release. A shame as it's brimming with high school hilarity and a dose of blood and guts for more sadistic viewers out there. Trashy, deranged fun centred on one of the main things high schoolers tend to obsess about...

John Cunningham hasn't written a bio just yet, but if they had... it would appear here.
