10 Best Horror Films To Watch On Netflix This Halloween
8. Hush
The Film:
Just when you think the home invasion flick has been ransacked enough, along comes Hush. Like it's genre mates Them and The Strangers, the setting is a remote abode where in this case it's lonely author Maddie (Kate Siegal, superb) being stalked.
But like the recent Don't Breathe, there's an added complication: Maddie is deaf. This gives writer/ director Mike Flanagan unique opportunities to get under our skin, ranging from sound editing techniques, camera perspectives and a MacBook moment that will have you bolting your back doors.
Despite Flanagan making a bold decison to unveil his Boogeyman early doors, what at first seems a strange decision starts to make a lot more sense once the film reaches its sweaty finale. Eighty minutes of pure terror.
Big Scare:
Maddie gets a ping on her laptop, but it's from her own phone. One click reveals images taken of her around the home, including one taken at that very moment. Hair-prickling stuff.
