Scream revolves around a psychopath called Ghostface who plays horror-themed mind-games with his victims before slaughtering them. While Ghostface performs his crimes, the movie-obsessed serial killer wears a black robe and white mask, inspired by Edvard Munch's painting, The Scream.

The outfit is simple but genius. It's explained in the film that the Ghostface garb is so common, it can be bought in almost any costume store. Its popularity can be seen in the original film since we see multiple teenagers wearing the outfit, making it harder for the police to track down the killer. The robe conceals every part of Ghostface's appearance, including physique, skin colour, and gender, giving no hint of who is behind the mask.

But Ghostface's robe and mask aren't the only parts of the disguise. The killer also conceals their voice with a sound modulator. In Scream 3, Ghostface uses this device to sound like Cotton, so his partner erroneously believes he's the murderer.

Considering the get-up has remained unchanged throughout the four movies (soon to be five), it goes without saying that Ghostface's look has stood the test of time.
