10 Best Horror Movie Musicals To Watch This Halloween 2020

9. Corpse Bride (2005)

Sweeney Todd
Warner Bros.

There is just something about Tim Burton's vivid style and the art of stop motion that works so well - together, they bring out the best of his creativity. The aesthetic of Corpse Bride is a beautiful blend of dark tones and striking symbolism, ideal for a thrilling Halloween flick.

Set to the backdrop of a Victorian village in the 1800s, we are given a peculiar tale of Victor Van Dort and Victoria Everglot, who have an arranged marriage despite never speaking a word to each other. As Victor keeps on messing up the wedding rehearsal, he escapes to the woods to practice but in an odd twist, he accidentally puts the wedding ring on the finger of a corpse bride, who now believes she is married to him.

Although Victor is a somewhat bland role, it's the Corpse Bride as well as Victoria Everglot who carry the narrative forward for their depth and personality. The soundtrack is whimsical and charming, complete with a top notch Danny Elfman score.

Whilst The Nightmare Before Christmas is a fantastic musical horror to watch at Halloween (more on that later), be sure not to skip on the brilliant Corpse Bride either.
