It's so often easy to lambast remakes as lazy, pointless films that indicate a distinct lack of creativity amongst Hollywood. And while that is at times the case, that's not the blanket rule for these do-overs of existing properties.

One example of a decent, if not spectacular, remake is 2009's My Bloody Valentine 3D. Updating the 1981 slasher of the same name, director Patrick Lussier's film was a fun popcorn flick of a horror film that had an enjoyable sprinkling of gore sprinkled throughout it.

In an interview with Bloody Disgusting, My Bloody Valentine 3D co-writer Todd Farmer revealed that there was at one point in time a push to try and develop a sequel offering to this 2009 picture.

According to Farmer, that sequel would've picked up, ala Halloween II, directly after the closing moments of its predecessor. With Jaime King's Sarah and Kerr Smith's Sheriff Palmer rushed to hospital, they would soon find themselves being once again hunted by the Miner. In fact, poor Sarah would've had her heart ripped out during the opening moments of this follow-up.

From there, the plan was to jump ahead one year down the line, where more bloodshed would follow.

Seemingly, execs at Lionsgate decided against My Bloody Valentine 3D Part 2 - although Farmer admitted that he and Lussier have regularly tried to get this sequel green-lit over the years.
