10 Best Horror Movie Villain Designs

8. Chucky - The Child's Play Franchise

Pinhead Hellraiser
United Artists

The leg up Chucky has over the other killer dolls that follow him is that he looks seemingly harmless. No one in their right mind would take Annabelle anywhere near their home, but Chucky? You will buy him from the toy store, bring him into your house, and put him in your child’s room.

When Chucky is not screaming, he screams innocent child. He has those cute little overalls and a colorful shirt. His face has blue eyes, freckled cheeks, red hair, and a friendly smile. Every kid would demand mommy to buy them one of these. When that cute smiling face gets mangled into an angry monstrosity, it’s a huge tonal dissonance.

The other advantage Chuck has over other killer dolls is that he is flesh (plastic) and blood. He has squishy doll-seized human insides, and it owes to body horror unseen in any other movie. Most Child’s Play pictures end with Chucky being mutilated to death in the most creative and cruel ways, in hard contrast to his innocent facade.

Being made of meat also becomes the starting point for his equally iconic scarred and stitched-up redesign. All thanks to the simple decision that he can bleed.
