Having a famous relative can go one of two ways in film. It can either secure your position in the industry or allow people to make unfavourable comparisons to the previous generation.

Brandon Cronenberg took on one hell of a task when he decided to go into making horror movies; a format that turned his father David into a living legend.

Clearly some of David's genius rubbed off, as Brandon's Infinity Pool is a masterpiece.

Set on an island paradise, struggling writer James (Alexander SkarsgÄrd) meets Gabi (Mia Goth), who's a fan of his work. This begins a relationship that takes James in a very unexpected direction.

With a little sprinkle of sci-fi and a huge dollop of psychological torment, Cronenberg crafts a brilliantly twisted world full of ideas never seen before on the big screen.

Infinity Pool will challenge you in ways you could not have expected, levelling questions at its audience about wealth, responsibility, and the very state of human life.

Anyone worried that Brandon wouldn't live up to his dad's lofty heights need worry no more. This kid's going to do just fine.
