10 Best Horror Movies That Subverted Classic Cliches

4. Little Evil

Have you ever sat through an “evil offspring” flick like The Omen, The Exorcist, or the more recent Eli and wondered “What happens when his poor parents inevitably split and/ or one of them is offed by the little git and some poor sap is dragged into becoming their stepmum/ stepdad?”

Well, if this clever thought ever occurred to you, congrats!

You’ve come up with the ingeniously simple subversion central to Tucker and Dale Vs Evil director Eli Craig’s long-awaited follow up to that much-loved cult hit, 2017’s Little Evil. Starring Parks and Recreation/ Pirahna 3D star Adam Scott in a flick whose tone veers between those two earlier projects, Little Evil sees the well-meaning mild-mannered chap try and bond with his new beau’s offspring despite the fact that the kid is, you know, the spawn of Satan.

All manner of hijinks ensue, leaving anyone who has ever wondered why the spouses stick together once their sprogs start sending nannies to their doom during disastrous birthday parties (looking at you, Damo).
