But the stars aligned for him in 2017 with this comeback, a lower budget horror comedy effort for Netflix which benefited from a stellar central turn from future Ready or Not star Samara Weaving, a solid supporting cast including The Duff’s Robbie Amell and Ken Marino, and a killer subversive conceit.

The eponymous beautiful babysitter is the young heroine who will no doubt have to save her young charges from some yet-to-be-unveiled horror movie threats, right?

Sure—or she’s the satanic, possibly outright demonic villain herself, and it’s her young charge who has to try and escape her clutches. It’s a brilliant subversion, one which proves strong enough to anchor this fast-paced, funny, and ultimately sweet—if hilariously gory—horror comedy coming-of-age mashup.
