10 Best Horror Movies That Take Place On A Train
1. Train To Busan - 2016
Slow shuffling zombies. Quick predatory zombies. TV. Movies. Games. Over the last twenty years, we have seen countless instances of zombie-based entertainment across all forms of media. It was inevitable that someone would come up with the idea to put zombies into the closed confines of a train, where speed and tight quarters make either fleeing or fighting difficult.
2016's Train to Busan, the live action debut of director Yeon Sang-ho (who directed primarily animation before this breakout hit,) lays out exactly that scenario. Shortly before the titular train leaves for the South Korean city of Busan, a virus escapes from a biotech facility and begins creating zombies. One of the infected, still looking human, makes it onto the train. She eventually turns before all hell breaks loose.
The film is filled with likeable characters who are easy to root for as they square off not only against the rapidly growing army of zombies, but other selfish and greedy survivors they find along the tracks to Busan. The film moves at a quick pace, features some great set pieces, and contains enough gore to satisfy horror fans but not so much that it becomes slapstick.
The movie spawned both an animated prequel and a sequel set in the same universe, and is one of the highest grossing movies in South Korean cinema history.
