10 Best Horror Romances

7. The Fly

Horror Romances
20th Century Fox

Another romance with tragedy at its centre, as the genre usually dictates, is The Fly, one of the seminal Cronenberg horror movies from the 1980s that sees a scientist figure out teleportation before accidentally merging himself with a housefly in the process. When Seth Brundle manages to transport himself between two devices, neither he nor his girlfriend Veronica count on a fly getting entangled with his DNA.

What ensues is Seth slowly and viscerally transforming into Brundlefly, becoming something that's not quite man and not quite insect as he revels in his newfound strength and metabolism. As he grows ever stranger and more aggressive however, Veronica becomes increasingly worried for state of being, with the pair attempting to work things out as the people around them are torn apart by Brundle's primal instincts. Its quirky, gross, and downright weird, but The Fly is one hell of a movie, with it's own version of romance at the centre.

Let's just say it's not real love unless they're willing to pop a shotgun shell in your face.
