If all life on Earth was about to end, I’d think you would want to spend your last few moments with your loved ones. The finale of These Final Hours sees protagonist James make amends just in time to share his final few with the woman he loves.

After going through the motions about what each of them wants and feels, lovers Zoe and James are once again reunited at the end of the film to comfort each other through oblivion. Zoe has been out partying and James has been doing everything from saving a kid from a kidnapper to having a full life-changing epiphany.

The two of them reunite and, despite initial hostilities, rekindle their love. Together they face down the oncoming firestorm, embracing and confessing their love for eachother. It’s incredibly depressing because only now does James realise his true love for Zoe and because their baby will never be born, but in a way its hopeful as their last few moments were filled with love.
