10 Best Leonardo DiCaprio Movies Of All Time

9. Titanic

Titanic Leonardo DiCaprio Kate Winslet
Fox

For many years, Titanic sat atop all box office records. The colossal intake of this film was almost a surprise. While it was an extremely expensive film, with a highly talented director in charge, it was by no means a sure bet.

Everyone knows the story of the Titanic. The boat launches. The boat meets some ice. The boat sinks. There's your three act drama. So, in telling this story, James Cameron was faced with the challenge of how to make it relatable. Borrowing a lot from the classic film A Night To Remember, he made it a love story.

And honestly - this was an excellent decision. There were few dry eyes in the house when Rose promises to never let go. DiCaprio was a relative newcomer at this stage. He already had films like Romeo + Juliet and What's Eating Gilbert Grape behind him, but this would be his first blockbuster.

His first blockbuster set the box office record that would only be beaten by Avengers Endgame, which had to effectively collect $700bajillion dollars to do so. Quite a feat for the young actor.

There is also the fact that DiCaprio and Kate Winslet work so well together, with obvious chemistry coming through the screen to the audience. Both pull it off, making the three hour epic feel like a much shorter film. It may be somewhat cliched, and that song may be stuck in your head forever, but Titanic really was the dominant film for all time, beaten only by superheroes and some aliens.
