The opening scene of Iron Man 2 is audacious, witty, and sets the tone for the superhero sequel to the film that single-handedly set the tone for the entire Marvel Cinematic Universe. As such it's slick, a little silly, and humorous, as Tony Stark enters an industry show the only way he knows how: with style. And with a bit of flirting with Pepper Potts, as she smooches his Iron Man helmet and tosses it out of the back of a plane. He leaps out after it and hollers "you complete me!" before rocketing after his metal bonce. It's all very charming. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FSFjFGUZGIg Turns out the film could have had a very different, far less charming beginning if director Jon Faverau had chosen to include this deleted, alternate opening scene instead. Rather than piss and vinegar, Tony Stark appears to be filled with vomit and regret, as the opening credits scrawl is accompanied by his whining and sobbing, with the first shot of the film being Iron Man with a sweaty face and his head in the toilet. Probably not the best way of referring to that alcoholism sub-plot/Palladium poisoning, or a superhero for that matter.
