The comic book movie landscape today is incredibly different to what it was back in 2008, and much of the reason is Iron Man. Jon Favreau and Robert Downey Jr. not only kicked off the MCU in a strong way, they produced one of the best superhero movies to date, even all these years later.

Though the final battle pitted Iron Man against Obadiah Stane in his own Iron Man suit, a classic case of the villain mirroring the hero's exact powers, it was still compelling. Stark's transformation was complete, and Stane was dealt his deserved comeuppance.

However, the excellence of Iron Man's ending was confirmed with the final four words in the final seconds of the movie. When Stark admitted he was Iron Man, he not only solidified himself as an absolute badass, he changed the course of the MCU. While superheroes had always hidden behind their secret identities before, Stark didn't. He didn't care who knew what he was doing, and two movies later he even gave a terrorist his home address.

This moment, one that was improvised by the great Robert Downey Jr., will forever be looked at as one of the most iconic in the entire history of the MCU.
