10 Best MCU Villains (Who Aren't In The Movies)

6. Agent Ward (Agents Of SHIELD)

Sometimes, it's the people you trust most who let you down. Just when you're trying to save the world from a secret sect of terrorists, it turns out your most trusted companion is one of those terrorists. We've all been there.

When Agents of SHIELD first started, a common criticism of the show was Ward’s blandness, an agent with a rough exterior with a heart of gold... sound familiar?

Luckily for the fans (unlikely for the Agents themselves), Ward was hiding one hell of a skeleton in his closet, the fact he was actually working for a fascistic terrorist order and betrayed the team, nearly killing the MCU’s best couple Fitzsimmons in the process.

Since then, Ward became a recurring thorn in the Agents’ side, torturing the Agents, defecting from HYDRA for his own villainous plans, being killed by Coulson and becoming the host for an ancient inhuman god, par for the course really.

While he was always evil, his seemingly genuine compassion for some of the team shone through, particularly in his Framework self, where he was a member of the anti-HYDRA resistance, where no one watching trusted him even slightly until he heroically sacrificed himself.

He was still probably planning something evil, though.
