10 Best Mid-Credit Movie Scenes

8. Spider-Man: Far From Home

Spider-Man: Far From Home somehow managed to be a sequel that accomplished the uber-rare achievement of being better than its predecessor in almost every way. By the end of the film, Spidey’s saved London from the manipulative clutches of Mysterio, aka Quentin Beck. So one might think he’s earned a leave of absence.

We catch up to the wall-crawler back in the Big Apple, swinging through the skyline to collect MJ to go on that well-deserved date. Then, the pair are interrupted by a special news broadcast on a nearby big screen. It’s JJ Jameson reporting in, lamenting the fate of the hero Mysterio, while going on a tirade against the vigilante Spider-Man. And in a gut-punch climax, JJ reveals the dying supervillain’s final broadcast, where he publicly outs the identity of ol’ webhead for the entire world to see. Woah.

With Peter Parker’s secret identity a much more closely guarded secret than most of his fellow Avenger counterparts, this last-minute reveal was nothing less than shocking. Plus, it was just sublime to see JK Simmons back as Jameson, one of the best supporting characters in the Tobey Maguire trilogy. Sure, there’s another true post-credit scene featuring our friendly Skrulls from Captain Marvel impersonating Agent Maria Hill and Nick Fury, but the first scene had us gasping in horror when we saw it.

A sucker for the MCU, Aaron Sorkin's writing, thrillers and action RPGs. Low key in love with Steve Rogers.
